■ Scope of Impact Due to Maintenance
As announced on the following page and elsewhere:
Announcement of Resumption of mdx II System Operation and Commencement of GPU Node Services
Currently, for instances running on OpenStack, the root volume (OS installation area) has been temporarily changed from the conventional Lustre storage configuration to an SSD storage configuration.
Due to this maintenance, the storage configuration for newly created volumes will be changed from the SSD storage configuration to the conventional Lustre storage configuration.
This change will not require any actions from users, nor will it affect any currently available or restricted features.
You can continue to use the mdxⅡ service as usual, so please rest assured.
Please note that the root volumes of existing instances will remain on the SSD storage configuration. These will also be migrated to the Lustre storage configuration in the future, and we will provide further details at a later date.
Current Configuration
Connected to an NFS server equipped with SSD (50 TB) storage
Configuration After January 2026 Scheduled Power Outage Maintenance
・Existing volumes: Connected to an NFS server equipped with SSD (50 TB) storage
・New volumes: Connected to Lustre storage via an NFS server

■ Shutdown of Virtual Machines
Please make sure to shut down your virtual machines on the mdxⅡ System before the start of maintenance. Any virtual machines that remain running at the beginning of the maintenance period will be shut down by the university. Please note that if a shutdown does not complete within a reasonable time, the system may be forcibly stopped.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation regarding this maintenance.
